IL JAZZ IN ITALIA
Dalle
origini alle grandi orchestre
di Adriano Mazzoletti
Un grande
sforzo storico e documentario per raccontare
gli uomini, i luoghi e le vicende
dell'epopea del jazz in Italia. Da quel
marzo 1904, quando un gruppo di cantanti e
ballerini creoli, presentandosi come i
"creatori del cake walk", si esibirono al
Teatro Eden di Milano, fino alle grandi
orchestre degli anni Trenta: una storia
fatta di locali da ballo, transatlantici,
fonografi, radiofonia e soprattutto ritmo.
discografia completa.
A huge historical and
documentary undertaking to tell the story of
the men, places and fortunes of the Jazz era
in Italy. Beginning with that March day in
1904 when a group of Creole dancers and
singers introduced themselves as the
ÒCreators of the Cake WalkÓ performed at the
Teatro Eden in Milan, up to the large
orchestras of the Thirties. It is a history
made up of dance halls, luxury liners
transatlantic liners, gramophones, radio
broadcasts and above all rhythm. With the
punctiliousness and passion of someone who
does not want to leave even a page of this
extraordinary and ignored story exposed to
the ravages of time, Adriano Mazzoletti,
pours into the book decades of study and
research to compose a fresco of impressive
variety and detail and, for the first time,
to offer the complete jazz discography of
those years.
